The communicationsD controllers support DMA transfers for bit oriented protocols andH perform character transmission, reception, and framing in microcode.D o The DSW21 and DSW41 (single line) and DSW42 (dual line) are highF performance synchronous communications controllers for busless Mi-D croVAX 3100 and VAXstation 4000 systems. The communications con-F trollers support DMA transfers for bit oriented protocols and per-E form character transmission, reception, and framing in microcode.D o The DMV11 (Q-bus) is a single line communications controller forF Q-bus systems. The DMV11 implements DDCMP in firmware and supportsI DMA data transfers and DDCMP point-to-point configurations. The DMV11D can support up to 12 tributaries depending on the operating sys- tem and layered software.D o The DPV11-DA or DPV11-S (Q-bus) and DUP11 (UNIBUS) are characterD interrupt devices for datalink handling. CPU cycles are requiredG for data link-level protocol processing and for each character sent and received.F o The DSV11 (Q-bus) is a high performance dual line synchronous com-G munications device for Q-bus systems. The DSV11 supports DMA trans-E fers for bit and character oriented protocols. The communicationsD controller performs character transmission, reception, and fram- ing in microcode.F o The KMV1A-A or KMV1A-SF (Q-bus) communications controller executesG transmission, reception, and X.25 LAPB link-level protocol process-E ing in microcode. Optional link-level software products, drivers,G and tools are available for the KMV1A device if required. The KMV1A/ device was previously known as the KMV11-A.F o The DSF32 (MI-bus) is a multi-function device for VAXft fault tol-F erant systems. The DSF32 provides a dual line synchronous capabil-F ity and supports DMA transfers for bit and character oriented pro-F tocols. The communications controller performs character transmis-H sion, reception, and framing in microcode. The two lines can be usedF independently to run different protocols or can be used to provide# 2 F a failover capability between lines in the event of an application or system failure.D o The DMB32 (BI-bus) and DMF32 (UNIBUS) are multi-function devicesG that include a single DMA line. The communications controllers per-E form character transmission, reception, and framing in microcode.F For the DMB32, revision J is required for applications using HDLC,E SDLC, and GENBYTE protocols. In the case of the DMF32, only revi-F sion J and later are supported for use with the HDLC protocol, andD revision M is required for simultaneous operation of the printer port.G o The DSB32 (BI-bus) is a high performance dual line synchronous com-G munications device for VAXBI systems. The DSB32 supports DMA trans-E fers for bit and character oriented protocols. The communicationsD controller performs character transmission, reception, and fram- ing in microcode.D o The DMC11 and DMR11 (UNIBUS) are single line communications con-D trollers that provide local or remote connections between UNIBUSE systems. The DMC11 and DMR11 implement DDCMP in firmware and sup-D port DMA data transfers and DDCMP point-to-point configurations.H o The KMS1P-A, KMS1P-B, and KMS11-B (UNIBUS) products are DMA devices.F The KMS communications controller executes character transmission,H reception, and X.25 data link-level protocol processing in microcodeD (LAPB only, for packets not larger than 1024 bytes). The VAX CPUF then processes the X.25 packet level protocol. Optional link-levelE software products and tools available for the KMS devices are notI required. The KMS1P-A and KMS1P-B were previously known as the KMS11- PX and KMS11-PY. Notes:E o The use of UNIBUS options on a VAXBI system with a UNIBUS AdapterG is not supported unless specified in Table 2 of this Software Prod- uct Description.# 3 D o The DMB32, DMF32, and DSH32 are multi-function devices. Only theG Device Driver for the synchronous ports are included in the VAX WAN Device Drivers.E o The DMB32 must be revision J or later for applications using GEN-" BYTE, HDLC, or SDLC protocols.E o The DMF32 must be revision J or later for applications using HDLC
protocol.E VAX WAN Device Drivers includes Device Drivers that are reserved forD use by Digital software products as well as Device Drivers that of-E fer a supported user ($QIO) interface. Table 1 of the System SupportG Addendum (SSA 29.64.03-x) lists the Device Driver characteristics. TheE table entries indicate the maximum permitted line speeds in kilobitsG /second for each of the protocols supported by the individual drivers.F The Device Drivers all support full duplex and half duplex operation,F where appropriate to the protocol. DDCMP and SDLC Device Drivers sup-H port both point-to-point and multipoint tributary operation. The IBM[R]E implementation of the bisynchronous protocol is supported by some ofG the Device Drivers. The GENBYTE protocol, a general byte-oriented pro-F tocol for use with user-written framing routines, is supported by the DMB32 and DMF32 Device Drivers.E The maximum permitted line speed depends on the line interface stan-E dard used and should not exceed the specification of the appropriateE standard. Refer to the product descriptions for the appropriate syn-D chronous interfaces for more information about the line speeds sup- ported by an individual device.E Note: Digital communications layered products may not support opera-D tion of the synchronous interface at the maximum speed supported byF the Device Driver. Refer to the appropriate Software Product Descrip-H tion for the Digital communications product for precise details of sup- ported configurations.D In all cases, the data throughput over the synchronous lines is de-9 pendent on the user applications and system environment.# 4 E The device drivers all support modem control signal operation. ReferF to the product descriptions for the appropriate synchronous interfaceD for details of the modem signals supported by an individual device. HARDWARE REQUIREMENTSE Processors and/or hardware configurations as specified in the System# Support Addendum (SSA 29.64.03-x). SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS o VMS Operating SystemE Refer to the System Support Addendum (SSA 29.64.03-x) for availabil-= ity and required versions of prerequisite/optional software. ORDERING INFORMATION Software Licenses: QL-VAWA*-** Software Media: QA-VAWA*-**$ Software Documentation: QA-VAWAA-GZ' Software Product Services: QT-VAWA*-**G * Denotes variant fields.
