Zip V2.2 has a known bug that causes an access violation when saving a .DIR file. You can avoid the bug by using /NODIR or "-D" to not add the directory entries. You can still save subdirectory contents with no trouble. ALso, note that ZIP V2.2 stores VMS file attributes in a new method compatible with that used by PKware. This means that versions of UnZip prioer to V5.2 will *NOT* be able to restore VMS files compressed with Zip v2.2. For that reason, older versions of ZIP and UNZIP are still included here. You can find current releases of Zip and UnZip on ftp.cdrom.com, ftp.wku.edu, and ftp.process.com, among other sites.
