Everyone knows what they have to bring tonight, right? All: Yep Bill: Biffo? Biffo: I bring the hamburgers and hot dogs. Bill: Andy? Andy: I bring the beer! Bill: Cindy? Cindy: Me and Pinky bring the blankets and rubbers. Bill: Sam? Sam: I'll bring the wood in my pickup and my surfboard. Bill: Surfboard?! Sam, you know there's no surfing allowed at Jagged Rock Beach! Andy: Yeah, that beach has been closed down ever since that fatal surfing accident Ed Trashkey had five years ago! Cindy: If we get caught there surfing, let alone having a beach party, we'll be hanged, all six of us. Sam: I don't care about that idiot Ed Trashkey or his accident. He just didn't know how to surf, that's all! Pinky: You'd better not surf there, Sam. You know that Ed supposedly haunts the beach looking for his lost surfboard. Biffo: Rumor has it that he even steals other surfer's surfboards when they're not looking. Sam: I don't believe that trash about Ed. As a matter of fact, after I get done with my soda, I'm going down there to surf. (He finishes his soda and stands up) Cindy: Sam, this is our last warning, don't surf there! Sam: Hang ten, bye! (he leaves) Bill: That Sam, he's such a fool! Andy: He'll get his! (the Sheriff enters) All: Hi Sheriff Broodingham. Sheriff: Hi kids, I want to talk to you all. I've been hearing a rumor about some beach party out at Jagged Rock Beach tonight. I don't know if it's true or not, but I want to warn you kids to stay away from that beach. Remember that it was five years ago tonight that poor Ed Trashkey lost his life out there. I don't want anything like that ever happening again. You hear! All: Yes, Sheriff Broodingham. Sheriff: OK, hang ten guys. (He leaves. The kids sit and think for a minute) Bill: Well, me and Biffo have to go to my house to work on my dune buggy. We'll take the old abandoned highway number 10, Biffo, it's a short cut to my house even though the highway is very deserted and runs next to the swamp. Bill and Biffo: Bye Cindy: Me and Pink will go to the public beach, which is next to the Jagged Rock Beach, to watch the sun set. Andy: I think I'll go for a walk, alone. (they all say goodbye) .lm 0.p 0.nat .s3 Scene 2 - A deserted street .s2 .lm 8.p -8.at Andy: Boy, I'm alone and it's starting to get dark. You know, if there way some kind of lunatic running around here, anyone on this street would be an easy target (Andy hears a noise coming from behind the bushes) What's that noise coming from behind the bush? Hey Bill, is that you? (Andy gets clobbered and dragged away) .lm 0.p 0.nat .s3 Scene 3 - Bill and Biffo are driving in Bill's Car .s2 .lm 8.p -8.at Biffo: You're right, Bill, it sure is deserted down old highway 10. Anything could happen out here and no one would know about it. Bill: Hey, Biffo, what's that in the road ahead? Biffo: I don't know, Bill, looks like a tree fell onto the road. Bill: Let's get out and move it ! (they get out. Biffo looks around) Biffo: Hey, Bill, I don't see any broken tree trunks around here, how did this tree get here?! Bill: It probably fell out of the back of a pickup or something. Biffo: Oh, OK. (They move it and walk back to the car. Bill gets hit and dragged away. Biffo gets in the car and begins whistling) Hey, Bill, what's taking you, hurry up! (He whistles some more) Jeez, Bill, where are you? (He gets out and walks around to the other side of the car. He looks around and finds the car keys on the ground) The keys! Hey, Bill, I found the keys. That dummy, he probably went looking for the keys in the swamp. (He starts walking toward the swamp and gets hit) .s3.lm 0.p 0.nat Scene 4 - Cindy and Pinky are on the public beach watching the sun set .s2 .lm 8.p -8.at Cindy: Boy, that sunset sure is beautiful! Pinky: It sure is. I wonder why there's no one else on this public beach watching the sun set? Cindy: Beats me! (Pinky starts to look around for something. She stands up.) Pinky: Hey, Cindy, I left my brush in the car. I'll be right back. Cindy: Ok, take ten, but hurry back. I don't want you to miss this sunset. (Pinky leaves. A few minutes pass and Cindy hears a noise behind her) Back already? That sun is beautiful, isn't it? Look at how it hits those clouds with light. The sun just smashes the water with its rays. Hey, Pinky (She turns around and yells as she gets hit. Pinky comes back holding her finger). Pinky: Hey, Cindy, boy I almost got knocked out when I hit my head on the floorboard looking for my brush. Then I smashed my finger when I shut the door... Cindy, where are you, Cindy!? (Pinky goes to the spot where Cindy was and finds blood) Blood! Cindy! (The man approaches her with the surfboard above his head) Hey, have you seen a girl with brown hair and .... uh, oh, Help!!! (She turns and runs. A chase scene occurs. They run onto Jagged Rock Beach. Pinky is tired and finally confronts the man) Please don't hurt me (he continues his approach) Who are you and what do you want? (the man removes his mask. It is Sam. Pinky is surprised) Sam, I don't understand! Sam: Before I clobber you, I'll explain everything. You see, Ed Trashkey was my stepbrother. That Saturday night when he was out here surfing he was practicing for the summer surfing finals. This is the toughest beach to surf on because of the huge waves and the jagged rocks sticking out of the water. Ed was unlucky that night. There wasn't a moon out so he ran onto one of those rocks. So after they closed down the beach, I decided to take advantage of the situation. I didn't want anyone else to practice here, so I started the stuff about Ed haunting the beach and stealing surfboards. That way Bill, Biffo, Andy, and all the other surfers would stay away from this beach to practice. I've been practicing here nightly and if you get good here you're sure to beat anyone in the competition out at the public beach. Pinky: But, but, where are Bill, Biffo, Andy, and Cindy. Sam: Out there surfing. Before they came to I put them on surfboards and pushed them out to sea. Now, since there isn't a moon out they will all smash into the rocks and die. And when the bodies are found, no other surfer will even think about surfing here. I'll be able to practice all I want when there is a moon out. (All the others are out surfing yelling for help) Pinky: You'll hang for this, Sam! Sam: Ha, Ha, you'll surf for this Pinky. (Sam raises his surfboard. The Sheriff enters. He has his pistol out.) Sheriff: Not so fast, Sam. The only place you'll ever hang ten is on the scaffold. Now put down the board. (Sam runs into the water and swims away). Sam: You'll never catch me, sheriff!! (The Sheriff is about to shoot Sam when Pinky interrupts) Pinky: Sheriff, stop, what are we going to do about Bill, Biffo, Andy, and Cinty? Sheriff: Don't worry, Pinky, I've brought this huge flashlight to guide them in with so they won't hit any rocks. (The Sheriff yells to the surfers) OK, you guys, follow the light (He guides each of them in. They all thank the Sheriff) Pinky: Where's Sam? Bill: Oh, no, everyone look! (He points to the ocean. Sam is out surfing and laughing cynically) Andy: Quick, Sheriff, turn on the flashlight so Sam won't hit any rocks (Sam hits a rock and washes up on shore) Sheriff: It's too late. He's hit a rock. (they all stand around Sam's washed up body) Sheriff: I guess Sam finally got what he wanted. Cindy: What's that, Sheriff? Sheriff: He's really hung!
