I'd been parking around the corner from the Northern Blvd flagging Quarters for almost a year, so I knew the block well. There was a broken patch of sidewalk,(one of many), near the end of the block, and I'd parked there many, many times. I'm climbing up the stairs out of the QP station and suddenly I'm in shock. There is a fire hydrant next to my car! It wasn't there when I parked, so I go over and give it a kick, figuring it's a prank. (I've got a fire hydrant in my basement left over from college prank days, but that's another story) Anyway, it's real, apparently they waited more than a year to replace a hydrant that had been knocked off and I was parked next to the spot the day they did it. No ticket, I guess no one came by that day. Now that would have been a fun one to contest.
