You may not sell this work. You may not charge for access or place an additional copyright or restrictions on this work. UUnet is allowed to archive this document. The programs are listed in broadcast order. Each Season has a title line that indicates the dates when the season started and ended for first-run episodes. The number of episodes in the season, how often they were broadcast, and the day of week (SA, M, T, TH, F) is also given. Any special event for that season (new actor plays the Doctor, color broadcasting begins, etc) will be mentioned on a subsequent line. Each line for a story starts with the production code that was used by the BBC to keep track of each story, the title of the story. The next column contains the keys for companions present in that story and that is followed by the repeat-character key. Refer to the table at the end of this document for the key. The next item indicates the number of episodes and if the BBC has the complete story in the archive, partial or poor grade materials, or none at all. (This information is constantly dated since the BBC is continuously finding previously-lost material.) And finally, you are given the locations (if known) where the story took place. Note that if information is larger than its column, it overflows and the next and subsequent columns are on the next line. A simple scanner or awk script can be used to parse this guide. If you have information regarding new archive finds, please indicate where you got this information. Thanks. Stories broadcast prior to 1-Jan-70 were in BW. Stories after that date were in Color, but some of the tapes have been lost, wiped, or have gone bad in the can. Note: just because the BBC archive doesn't have it, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. N No episodes of the story are in the archives. Entire story is lost. C Story originally made in Color, using PAL 625 video or color film. The color original or a reasonable quality copy exists in the archive. B Episode originally made in Color, using PAL 625 video or color film. All color master/copies have been lost, or are of poor quality. A Black & White overseas or simultaneous service BW film or tape is all that has been recovered to date. Q Story originally made in Color, using PAL 625 video or color film. BBC has lost PAL/film masters, but has in its possession a Black & White overseas or simultaneous service BW film/tape AND NTSC Color copies. Apparently the BBC distribute the Color version to NTSC countries, and use the BW version in PAL countries, including the U.K. This makes zero sense, and I hope U.K. readers will be able to confirm/deny this. A Story originally recorded in BW, using BBC 405 video (for stories A to OO) or BW PAL 625 video (for stories PP to ZZ) or BW film (16 or 35 mm). The BW original or a copy exists in the archive. Note that some BBC 405 stories were converted to film for final editing. I Never Completed (Shada). The following codes are used where the BBC does not believe it holds complete copies of all the episodes in a story. The following codes indicate the material the BBC knows they have. Episodes not mentioned for a particular are considered lost. nP or n-nP Fragments or clips remain of this episode. nB or n-nB Episode n exists in BW, original Color is lost or unusable. nQ or n-nQ Episode n exists in BW and NTSC Color, original Color is lost or unusable. nC or n-nC Episode n exists in Color. n or n-n Episode n exists in the original BW.
