Our dear friend Mike passed away on the 21st, his health has been declining since the stroke. He could be loud, but his heart was full of love and kindness. I can say his heart was even stronger than his voice, , he was a kind and generous soul looking for the truth, and some happiness along the way in life. He loved his music, cat, and study of life. He'll be deeply mist. If any friends want to find out anything more, I'm staying in touch with a neighbor. I really hope he's in a place where there is more love and less suffering. I always respected that he lived life on his terms, and was honest and caring. He did a lot with Delta Wave to help people with acquiring Hawkwind merchandize in the 90's. Mike told things as he saw them, granted, he could get high spirited, but I believe he felt something needs to be done to kick us stupid humans out of our complacency, he was a fun, loving and intelligent compassionate soul. Please send him good vibes and some to Luv Luv the cat that helped him stay alive. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Pretty soon thereafter, I realized he genuinely was like this, and not just a troublemaker. And I grew to like his mailings, be it on-topic, or outer space off-topic. He truly was an Original. I have fond memories of him. Come to think of it, that's all us mere mortals can wish for, for others to have fond memories of us. Mike's done that. Enjoy Paradise, Mike! And to be honest, it took a long time for me to listen to "Re:Imaginos"... I mean, I bought it, then it sat for months unlistened to until recently. Al is an amazing musician and composer, but I've never been a big fan of his voice. So I was apprehensive, to say the least. But then I listened to "Three Sisters" on YouTube and I was stunned. He sounded so great on that! The next day, I finally gave Re:Imaginos a listen and I loved it. It's different from the 1988 recordings, obviously, which still remains my favorite (pseudo) BOC album. But I enjoy these new versions quite a bit. Funny thing... my favorite song on the 1988 album is "Castle Weisseria." My favorite on "Re:Imaginos" is... "Castle Weisseria!" This truly baffles my mind, because the 1988 version is one of the heaviest tunes I've ever listened to. The newer version is worlds away from metal. And yet... they are both amazing! Anyway. Really looking forward to the new album... and the next! He's doing a trilogy! Wow! Wait... this new one is a double CD... does this mean the next one will be triple? LOL.
