From asg at mvdbase.com Thu Dec 3 00:40:57 2020 From: asg at mvdbase.com (Alex S. Garcia) Date: Thu, 03 Dec 2020 06:40:57 +0100 Subject: [boc-l] OFF: Motion Device Message-ID: <5265115.KGG9VLNpuh@unicorn> I just realized I've never mentioned this band on here before... I really should have. They are AMAZING. First thing to know about them: they're four kids from Canada (two sisters, a cousin and a family friend, IIRC). Second thing: they started off doing covers of metal and prog classics (Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, etc. though no BOC yet, sadly) Third thing: the singer (Sara, the youngest member) has an incredible voice. Fourth thing: the musicianship of the other guys in the band is mind blowing, despite their young age. Fifth thing: they've accumulated such a following that they have now successfully crowdfunded one EP and three full-lengths (including a concept album!) If you don't know them yet, prepare to be blown away... seriously guys, check them out! This is one of their most amazing pieces, "Wide awake", from the concept album of the same name: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xr22K22yFPA And of all the covers they've done, "White rabbit" is one of my favorites (singer is 12 yo in this one!!!): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8C0gM-ShcbA Her voice gives me goosebumps every time haha. They've released so much great stuff... I highly recommend browsing through their channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/OfficialMotionDevice/videos Hope you enjoy! Your list doesn't take in to account that alone there were 7 different vinyl versions of The Symbol Remains (I managed to get 4). It's been a very expensive year for collectors. :-o Jas On 7 Dec 2020 at 20:04, Andy Gilham via boc-l wrote: To: BOC / Hawkwind Discussion List Date sent: Mon, 7 Dec 2020 20:04:47 +0000 Subject: Re: [boc-l] HW/BOC: 2020 From: Andy Gilham via boc-l Send reply to: BOC / Hawkwind Discussion List Copies to: Andy Gilham Of course I forgot a few Record Store Day releases ? I'm dithering about the Hawklords one. I'm about eight albums behind (I don't know how many--last I have is _Censored_) and am really not sure I need any more, but live might be different. _The Symbol Remains_ is really good, isn't it? I need to post separately about that. I haven't yet had the time to sit down and give the two Bouchard products the listening they deserve; the problem with working from home is that the work lives with you, and I was an academic before this all started so already had that problem big enough...[1] But I have done with _Symbol Remains_ and I was delighted by it.
