That one was very ropey. My fave was "Survival" where Straker and Foster are downed on the lunar surface and helped by an alien. It's a shame that series two was resurrected as Space 1999 - a show with an awful premise which quickly metamorphosed into Lost In Space 2 with obligatory scary monsters. The only two espisodes of that I liked was the Sargasso Space Monster one with the Albinoni score and the one where Simmons won the lottery to go back to Earth. I think Smith would be banging Penny, and you know how it was between Will, Robot, and Smith, so it's kind of a disturbing picture in the end. That all said, I think there's space for a soap which evolves in the direction of alien integration. It'd give Eastenders a new lease of life to have some new tentacles on the manor, and they'd get some racy love scenes, with the obligatory shouting and loud espanning to follow. Of course, like the squid in L.Neil.Smith's novels, the Space Octopi would enjoy a real ale or eighteen at The Queen Vic.
