Recorded at Earth Studios, the eagerly awaited follow-up to Blood of the Earth (2010 Eastworld records) encapsulates the band in full creative flight with a lavish collection of new music featuring: sound tracks for internet warfare, mantra?s for self realization and electrical systems checks. Revealing ancient prophecies, aligning constellations, urban violence and touchy feely robots. Unfolding harsh primordial soundscapes heralding a new green millennium. Including luxurious packaging across multi-formats, with exclusive bonus live tracks taken from the Hawk vaults demonstrating the prowess of the late Jason Stuart?s exceptional keyboard playing. The album seeks to unravel ancient mysteries brought to life with stories of distant past. The rock sure stable line-up starring Dave Brock on vocals, guitar and synthesizer, Richard Chadwick drums and vocals, Tim Blake on Keyboards and Theremin, Mr. Dibs on vocals and bass and Niall Hone on bass, synthesis, sequencing and guitar. The band is currently working on a new multimedia live show for forthcoming dates. I bet you compile whole 'new' album from the extras, without counting live versions. I notice that there are 2 old tracks here on Onward (a bit backward TBH), disregarding the bonuses, *Death Trap* and *Green Finned Demon*. The latter is probably the Sea Shepherd download and the former maybe the version on My Space? They do keep doing that these days, but the new versions are welcome anyway. I'll probably use the "Hawkwind Are Coming" blown-out glasses poster for the pubs around the venue. If any of you are coming to Edinburgh, please get in touch. We'll be spending the day in Dagda - my local watering hole. It has real ale, and they even have a couple of Hawkwind albums (donated by a mysterious benefactor) on the jukebox. It doesn't sell food, but they do allow folks to bring takeouts and there's plenty of food outlets around these parts since it's a university area. I may make Off The Tracks too with any luck... Back on the other side again now though. Significant Hawk- or Friends-related things that I have recently learned are: (1) The new Bevis Frond album is really good, even if missing the huge fifteen-minute fuzz-and-delay extravaganza I wish he still did; (2) I missed a Frond gig last winter in London because he now advertises this stuff only via Facebook and Yahoo Groups; actually maybe *that's* why I haven't been on list much, because one upon a time someone would have mentioned it *here* yannow... (3) Not to be tarred with the same brush, I will therefore tell you that Mick Farren & The Deviants, featuring Russell Hunter on drums and Duncan Sanderson on bass and Andy Colquhon on guitar, plus who knows what else, are playing London at the Borderline *this here Friday the 23rd* and there were still tickets as of UK lunchtime today because that's when I bought mine, see www.rhythmgigs.com for more info and your own purchase possibilities. (4) I am actually a bit excited by the possibility of more new Hawkwind so soon after the last lot. Can't be completely jaded yet after all! (5) I am still slowly acquiring the Atomhenge remasters and am pretty happy with _Space Bandits_, which is not something I would ever have anticipated myself sayin ten years ago. (6) I know of nothing to report that's even faintly B?OC-related, does anyone else? (7) This actually isn't Hawk-related at all except in as much as they played Strange Daze the same year but Red Giant just managed to release a third album and it is *really good*, a happy blend of the delay-soaked complications of the first one and the heads-down riffery of the second, it is called _Dysfunctional Majesty_ and I humbly commend it to those here assembled who like their heavy swaggering proggy fuzz-rock.
