Can anyone comment on this music? Interesting... My first thought: wow! music inspired by the Amber books, I gotta get this... Then I got to the part which states it's an all instrumental album. That cooled me off. Never been much into instrumental albums. Besides, I fail to see how you can make a concept album all instrumental... I mean, a concept album is supposed to tell a story, which seems a bit difficult using just music. It baffles me quite a bit. Still. It got at least one guy to read the books, so that's cool. May still give it a listen. And BTW, speaking of Amber, I myself wrote lyrics to a song inspired by the Amber series. It's just the one song though -- albeit a lengthy one ;-) In the progressive rock genre. It will be on Skeem's upcoming second album. This forum may not be the largest, but it may have been the first, I remember hearing about it in the mid 90's even before Chris and I had a computer. A good place to start is hawkwind.com. There's a lot of cool Hawkwind sites, and you can connect to lots of former members if you're into Facebook. Although I've connected with a lot of friends new and old on FB, I have concerns about privacy, not that I have anything to hide, but I can't figure out how to get off it now, it's not blind user friendly, and I suspect they don't make it easy to unsubscribe. I can't find the words to make a proper apology to him, Pond and the Langtons that my continued smoking and vinyl champagne taste (being a very bad mix) have left me with nothing month-after-month, and I will likely not be eating this Thanksgiving, just like last year. If Nial is not going to return to Trev with Richard or there is to be no more furious psychedelic metal to come from him, I think I want to commit suicide, but I can't. It's been a while since we've heard from you. All the best, Mary P.S. When we started the Kadu Flyer in '89 Harvey told us we'd need a computer, we didn't get 1 for years, he was so right, it would have made things a lot easier, since we were using "Stone knives and bear skins," I'm surprised we managed to keep the Flyer going for as long as we did. We never could have done it without all the stamps and other contributions we got from Hawkfans, and other friends who had access to computers printers, and other tools that made it all possible. I didn't know this list went back to '90, we were in our infancy with the Flyer back then. This is a really fine community which I'm glad to be a part of. -----Original Message----- From: BOC/Hawkwind Discussion List [mailto:BOC-L at LISTSERV.ISPNETINC.NET] On Behalf Of Steve Swann Sent: Monday, November 22, 2010 4:36 PM To: BOC-L at LISTSERV.ISPNETINC.NET Subject: Re: Hi back on list after a long absence Yeah we were a Hawkwind mailing list before most of the world had ever heard of the Internet. :-) We started in1990, if I recall correctly... It never makes me unhappy. I'm never like, 'Ah, I never want to hear a wah through an echo again!' I love a wah through an echo! It's fucking cool. And believe me, like I said, if I heard a million bands doing this stuff all the time, I wouldn't be doing it. But I don't." but even after that there's stuff worth reading. I also learn that they're playing London tonight, inevitably, but I already got a date for tonight so I hope Dave will let me off.
