I wonder which brainiac thought up that one. :-\ Cheers, Paul (who actually does own a turntable, but unfortunately it resides several thousand miles away across at least one ocean). PS: Who are Eastworld Recordings? I notice they have _Bring Me the Head of Yuri Gagarin_ and _The Text of Festival_ listed for sale amongst the catalogue on their Web site. At least that guarantees good distribution. I'm sure it was the record labels bright idea to spread the tracks accross 3 formats, annoying but higher sales. Thank god it's not like the late 80's when I had to buy 6 single formats to get all the damn tracks for some of my bands. I'm sure eventually the individual trax will sneak out as downloads on ITunes. I don't have a record deck, nor do I plan to rebuy one so vinyl is a waste of time for me. Rich W. I might forgive them if they finally deliver their much delayed 3CD Deluxe Remaster of 'Disintegration' by the Cure which might come out in 3 weeks. The Sisters of Mercy are another band that haven't been handled well on CD/DVD, there are still a bunch of tracks missing from CD, and the mastering on their early singles compilation is utter crap, and no DVD releases. Warners need to get of their Arse. At least Beggars Banquet finally started remastering the Bauhaus albums in decent deluxe editions. The mastering on the 80s CDs was dismal. Rich W Now I'd just like a Deluxe 3CD edition of 'Definitive Unsolved Mysteries...' By Mr Quimbys Beard, preferably backed with the 2 set gig they did at Sunderland supporting Ozrics which finished with a bunch of kick ass singalong Hawkwind covers. Surely in the top 5 Space Rock albums of the last decade, if not Number One. > > I think this is why they are simply doing runs of 1000. There's been some excellent material on the tours and Dibs believes in the whole schtick passionately enough that I can see his input on the production process making it suitably out-there and grand, and hopefully sounding a little less Pro-Tools-in-a-barn than did TMtYL (which I still enjoy, I should say). as ever, the correct and fair test I think is "will this be better than _Electric Tepee_, and I could imagine that it might be. > I can genuinely say I am really looking forward to this album so much..... > Niall & Tim are awesome additions. If you are making love, I am sorry for interrupting, but what are you doing reading your emails? Now, for those that normally buy from them, I don't want to do the independents out of business, it's hard enough for them as it is. How about just this once though? CHART TREK 2 - BLOOD OF THE EARTH. With all the publicity Hawkwind have been receiving of late, and indeed still are (tonight they will be honoured with the Mojo Maveric Award for 2010 - amazed at how I just slipped that in brackets) we stand a much better chance of acheiving this than we did with 'Take Me To Your Leader'. Reason number one is the biggie. Last time it was planned that we would buy TMTYL from Amazon. The idea was good but fell flat on it's face as Amazon album sales DO NOT count towards a chart position. Did very well in Amazon's pre order chart, but that's all. HMV is the place to buy from if we want to make a dent this time around. Yes, HMV. I would rather shop at Marks & Spencer than HMV, but will make an exception in this case. If you are going to buy the new album in whichever format, would you consider buying it from HMV? Buying it direct from the label will not work towards this goal, and HMV is cheaper. Lets get our band back in the charts in their 40th anniversary year. Message-ID: Hello friends, the other night I appeared on a great radio show called Rock-On-Radio. The show is archived and rebroadcast on about 10 internet stations. The interview and performance went great, though I did not know until a day before the show, that the station is located on the grounds of a rather fundamentalist Church. Now, technically the station is free to broadcast all types of music and opinions etc, and maintains a loose affiliation with the church. ( they don't broadcast religious programming 24 hours a day ). Well, wouldn't you know, that of all the shows they have had ( and archived ), my appearance is NOT AVAILABLE due to 'technical problems', and yet it is still being aired on other stations ( hence it was archived ). I can only surmise, that my mention of psychedelia, Druids, Aliens, and Sword and Sorcery all in one interview, pushed the boundaries of the excepted topics on this station etc..So, in essence, the show was never broadcast in The UK...The station manager in The UK told me it was because the show had moved to a new slot, but the person who interviewed me, said that the UK station had been hacked? Nonetheless, I assumed the show was lost in the aether,BUT it was archived. My question is, if it was archived, why does it state on the station audio page, that "the interview with Mike Burro from May 9th, is not available due to technical problems? Anyone who heard it live said it sounded spot on, AND if it is being rebroadcast on affiliated stations, why is not being archived on the station where it was recorded? In-Reply-To: Message-ID: I had a dream about the new album, I remember feeling really good about it, but I couldn't find Sweet Obsession, (I love the version on Earth To Ground, I don't know how they can improve on that, very different for dave, it works well, for me). After hearing the album in the dream I couldn't get in touch with anyone to tell them what I thought. I wish I had details of unreleased material in the waking world. I'd been listening to a modern Hawkwind show before sleeping, that must have triggered that. As one of the commentators says, it's almost refreshing to see someone so thoroughky acknowledging the pulp roots of the genre like that, and the ?bergendering is almost pastiche, but for me what makes it authentic quality Moorcock is the stylistic wrestling with the basic dilemma of how to depict something as genuinely alien and outside the reader's human experience while still using language the reader can attribute meaning to. For me _Blood_ struggled too much with this; this story may struggle too little with it and leave too much unsaid, but leaving most of the heavy aspects aside for later musing by the reader is what made the early Elric books so pacey, after all. And on that note I liked the fairly subtle eternal champion analogues worked in. I know to expect them by now but it's still nice when they aren't too obvious. (Come to think of it, the last time HW had more than one original member in the group must have been during the brief period in the early '80s when Nik Turner had rejoined!) Of course, maybe Mick was original in Hawkwind Zoo and Huw was original in Hawkwind ...?
