If we'd continued in that vein I'm sure we could have had the fences down lol. Instead we gave them one of the best sets that the Nu ICU has ever given. Very very good. The next day (Fri) at the Dada stage was rubbish as there was hardly anyone there and rave mixer guy didn't have a clue as to how to mix a live rock band and the supplied equipment was disfunctional. I do think a blind user friendly car may be designed in my life, but we already have too many cars ruining our fragile ecosystem, so we need to focus on making cars that are more eco-friendly, then get them to fly, navigate, or whatever. It's bad enough that there are so many cars being driven with only 1 person. Granted public transportation is a drag, and car pooling isn't always practical, but if we're going to keep this world alive we need to seriously examine our priorities. I would like to try driving a car sometime, have driven boats, That jet pack would be fun, but impractical, we think the pollution is bad now? Parents will tell their children in 100 years, or less, "I remember when you could actually look up and see open sky." When a potential rescue ship passes him by, he swears revenge on it and its occupants and whoever is behind them... In the case of Blue ?yster Cult?s entry, this combines selections from 1977?s On Your Feet or on Your Knees, 1978?s Some Enchanted Evening, and 1982?s Extraterrestrial Live, adding several rarities and previously unreleased cuts from the same era to the mix, including a promo single of ?Godzilla? from Detroit?s Cobo Arena in 1977, a 1979 version of ?The Vigil,? and the 1981 U.K. single, ?Flaming Telepaths.? This may not quite be enough rarities for the hardcore, but they?d want nothing but unreleased material. What Setlist does present is a snapshot of B?C at their prime and it?s a strong, unfussy rock & roll album. The cover is a 5 guitars jam image that hasn't been used previously, I think. Anyway, overall, I think it is a pretty good record but I still think they need fewer of these ambient synth tracks and more rock tracks. The opener has this killer opening and a great build up and then you go straight into this laid back spacey meltdown, which is beautiful and nice but I needed to have rock track.. I think the they have some solid tracks but they only wrote like 4 rock tracks in 5 years... I guess there is more uptempo, Dibs-spacehead style stuff about though but they did not want to use to many of his tracks. A cool record but because of too many of these mellow space out tracks, I won't play it that much. I got the Triad Hawkwind tribute on Neurot Records and that is really great. Especially the US Christmas versions which are really powerful and true to the originals and I really like Nate from US Christmas's voice. I agree, that the Minsk guy's singing really destroys Assault and battery but the rest is great and even though these guys have a bit of a gravelly voice, they sing the songs in a pretty cool way and you can understand the words, they are growling death metal vocals at all. Great tribute.. later scott www.oresundspacecollective.com (our latest CD, Slip into the Vortex was 26 in the Swedish top 60 for one week in July.. cool...) I'll let you know what I think of the new album when I get it, in a couple of weeks, the suspense is almost killing me, but that will only make it better. Of course, I have a great deal of respect for everyone who has expressed opinions of the album, I tend to not read reviews till after I hear the album, since I got a lot of mileage out of Tmtyl, as I've made really clear, I'm sure I'll be very happy with the new release. I think Wraith rocks, from the live versions I've heard. Scott, I hope you're well. Was just playing "This World's On Fire," which brought back a lot of memories of hanging in the studio. I still need to get over to Carl's site, so much music out there, it's really amazing. As you may have read from my postings, I am so psyched, 2nd row seats for Porcupine Tree. It did cost a fortune, but it's Radio City. That's why I haven't ordered the Hawkwind, yet, but that will be done at the top of the month. I'm being summoned by Kosh, so I must go feed the little guy. Like a Vorlon, he won't give a straight answer, that's a cat for you. You may remember our Staci, she lived till 13, and had a stroke, and passed on at home, peacefully, I'd been sleeping, and she looked at the shut bedroom door, and let Chris know he had to open it right away, so I could say bye to her. The vet said she might live till morning, but as Chris said a prayer for the dying she passed on in my arms. Kosh is a double paw, long hair very shy, but loving cat. I've had the privilege of his company for 7 years, and he's often been my reason for living over the past 2 years. I met a friend, he's blind, and made contact with me the night I lost Chris, and I went to a party at his house in Providence, and there were a lot of musicians there, and a guy who recognized Chris's name, he plays in a band that does music concret. I'll be checking them out next week, for free!!! Can't beat that price. He's going to introduce me to other cool people. Since Chris and I moved around a lot, for a while, I've lost most of my old contacts. Remember those parties we used to have at my friends' house with music, and all kinds of entertainment. I hope you're having a real fine summer. This is a hard time of year for me, since it was this time of year I lost Chris. I had an experience the other day, my friend was sleeping in my room, she can't sleep on a love seat. I had been awake, and while lying on the living room couch, I felt Chris's presence, from his height, vibe, even smell, and when I tried to ask him how he got here, he said, "I'm still here." Sure it could be coming from the subconscious, and I've always been skeptical when others have talked of being contacted by loved ones, but I think it was real. I really don't think it was a wishful thinking, or anything. Like when I found my cat, after he'd been gone for 8 days, (many years ago), I know the difference between regular dreams and those that are different. I'm working on finding like minded people for friends. I don't think I'll ever have another lifemate, what Chris and I had was special, we may have been messed up, but we were a team and had something special, it feels like the best part of that team is gone. Chris would want me to go to Radio City for the show, and I won't argue that point. I need a good show. I do love the music of Porcupine Tree. I hope you enjoy the rest of your summer, Love, Mary and Kosh -----Original Message----- From: BOC/Hawkwind Discussion List [mailto:BOC-L at LISTSERV.ISPNETINC.NET] On Behalf Of Vortexan Sent: Monday, July 19, 2010 3:06 AM To: BOC-L at LISTSERV.ISPNETINC.NET Subject: Re: Blood of the Earth and more thanks Scott- I JUST hung up with Mary questiong where the comments were- My copy should be any day now, and while I am aging, I too want to vibrate the city block with rock, so maybe I'll have my calming med along with the listen so I am approching it right.... thank you Mike On 7/19/10, SHLL (Scott Heller) wrote: > > Hello, > > I have heard the vinyl version and am writing my review of the record > now but I still don't have the double CD version ordered from Amazon. > Anyway, overall, I think it is a pretty good record but I still think > they need fewer of these ambient synth tracks and more rock tracks. > The opener has this killer opening and a great build up and then you > go straight into this laid back spacey meltdown, which is beautiful > and nice but I needed to have rock track.. Alas, there is not as much music there as I would like! Being a dad definitely cuts into my music-making time! Yeah, "This World On Fire" is a good song. It's mostly a Tox Donahue creation (the lyrics, certainly), with the music a joint effort between Tox and me. Besides "Words to the Wind", it's certainly one of the old Ossian's Ride tracks that more deserves a re-visitation; I've been kicking around some re-arrangement ideas for a while .. but they will probably have to wait for Luna to get a bit bigger! Oh but this is not a flying car in the good ol' Back to the Future or Fifth Element style. (Though, now I consider those more closely because of these semantics, I don't really see in what way those aren't just car-shaped aircraft, I have to admit.) This is a lightplane that's convertible for road use. Okay, getting one certified for use on both air and roads is quite a feat; but we've had the *technology* to do this since 1949! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aerocar And that one is *also* road- and air-legal, though it probably wouldn't pass any of the tests now.
