I think one would need the multi-track tapes rather than the mixed  
album masters, but I do see what you mean.

Well, they are products of their time! :)
I think it would be cool to produce a double-disc version, with the  
original and a modern remix. That might be considered obsessive  
(though since when has that been a _bad_ thing in terms of Hawkwind  
fandom? ;)), but I can think of similarly composed releases that have  
been done for other bands and albums ...
