The attention to detail in the programme is something else and as I am around the same age as the main character Sam, his boyhood memories are very similar to mine so it is a programme I enjoy greatly. (Or maybe it was the trecherous upstate New York road conditions.) In any case, hearing that particular take on classic Motown was a bizarre experience. The remastered CD sounds great, especially the drums on Godzilla, and it's good to hear the bass lines more clearly. And besides the aforementioned track, the extra tracks are good songs in their own rights -- not merely putting late '70s BOC "in perspective." Now all we need is an update of Godzilla, with the beast replaced by global warming pointing up the folly of man. The concert itself was much better than the show on the Live 1976 video. I just wish I could've experiened the laser show in person. I also loved the rendition of "This Ain't The Summer of Love" with that different, driving rhythm. I'm sure they probably played it that way for years, but that's the first I've heard it. I just wish I could've experiened the laser show in person. I haven't had a chance to listen to SEE yet, but the remaster of Spectres is a little bit of a disappointment to me, since I was expecting something that sounded markedly different than the original (most specifically, I think I was expecting much more boost in the high end). I think what it shows is that the sound of the album that we're familiar with must be inherent in master tapes, not laxity in the original CD mastering. I only owned the vinyl briefly, since I was already almost exclusively buying CDs by the time I got heavily into BOC, so I can't make any kind of reasonable comparison there... It was a new fancy space in the New York Record Plant with and pyramid skylight that played havoc with the sound. Agents was mixed in studio C and was much easier IMHO. We ended up redoing several mixes with disappointing results. Also having a whole bunch of different engineers also didn't help getting a consistent sound. I find the remaster to be vastly superior to the vinyl. Nosferatu was ruined by inner groove distortion on most record players. I concur, though in this case I thought Ron's contributions were about the best thing on the album, though there was a decent instrumental (?), I think, from Jerry as well. Sounded a bit unfinished (_looked_ a bit unfinished!) and did not have the world's greatest material on it. 20 or 30 quid? That's madness. What are peoples > views on it? It's been awhile, but I remember it being pretty sub-par. I remember the sound quality being especially bad. I also have never been a fan on Ron Tree, so YMMV. -- David Kuznick dkuznickATalumni.brandeis.edu "Ever had the feeling you've been here before? Drinking down the poison the way you were taught.
