I agree!
They obviously don't belong in the main body of the Codex, but then again,
they are not strictly cover versions either!  If a song contains any portion
of original HW material, then it should probably be classified as a remix.
Howzabout a couple of appendixes? Appendix A for remixes, Appendix B for
cover versions.
On the same train of thought, you could have a further appendix for solo HW
member's versions of HW songs. Jeez how many versions would you have to list
for Nik's "Watching the Grass Grow"  !!

                On the qustion of the remixes, I'd tend to a purist all or
nothing
                aproach. I.E that affected songs are either in or out. Those
being:
                The 4 Spirit of the Age remixes on Rituals of the Solstice
                Right to Decide and Assassin on Decide Your Future
                Uncle Sam's on Mars (2 mixes) on the Quark single CD
                SCourge of the Earth Silver Machine mixes
                The debate here is moving towards me classifying them more
as Hawkwind
                covers than Hawkwind songs and having them all removed from
the codex.
                Thoughts?
