I may be wrong (never stopped me before and won't in the future) but didn't
the band in its earliest (read  college days) do Motwon or other R&B covers
as well as what passed for rock & roll in the late 50's early 60's.  I could
see Buck digging the Beach Boys.  Hell I used to be wild about Sha Na Na.
